She is a highly sought after, “POWER” Coach, Guest Lecturer, Corporate Speaker and Trainer, Professional Make-up Artist, and Executive Producer, all with 25 plus years of experience. Inspirationally, Dr. Cheryl over many decades has creatively evolved into a power-house Producer, who initially started by creating many cultural and empowering events in the NYC area. These dynamic and successful events spurred the ever creative mindset of Dr. Cheryl Vernae+R. This electrifying creativity laid the groundwork for what is now, THE BEAUTY N2 POWER SHOW+R. This visual-podcast show can be seen on it’s own YOUTUBE channel with goals for future expansion. The show’s petitus encourages both personal and professional empowerment with the targeted goal to fuel motivation to help the audience engage in their best lives, ever. The ever evolving Visionary aka Dr. Cheryl Vernae+R is planting the seed for a game changing media outlet called Platinum Angle Group+R, LLC. The foundational layer for this current vision was laid many years ago when she was a radio talk show host in NYC on WWRL and WTHE. Inspirational Talk with Dr. Cheryl was a hit show with provocative and stimulating talk. Two of her most memorable shows were her interviews with iconic legends, husband and wife team Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee. They premiered their dazzling and historically graphic, autobiographical book on Dr. Cheryl’s show. Additionally, a compelling interview with Charles S. Dutton was shared with Dr. Cheryl and her audience. His intriguing and heartfelt story was quite engaging.
As a highly respected and established make-up artist in various mediums including corporate, television and film for well over 25 plus years, Dr. Cheryl started her artistic career by painting faces. This meager career beginning started with make-up applications for many luxury retail cosmetics brands. Some of these brands included Christian Dior, Chanel, MAC, Borghese Prescriptives, which she became a National Make-up Artist, traveling the country for. Dr. Cheryl also worked to expand Prescriptives Cosmetics color palette to include all, “real”, wearable makeup colors for all women including women of color. This groundbreaking, “creative activity”, of Dr. Cheryl, gave women of color, “real” options for exact match makeup. This creative endeavor caught the eye of one of her Bestie’s who, at that time was developing a new makeup line called the Queen Collection. Her Bestie was the legendary, iconic and now deceased, Make-up Maven Roxanna Floyd who asked Dr. Cheryl to collaborate with her in developing, “real” foundation makeup colors for the Queen Collection. Roxanna was at that time the Personal Makeup Artist for the epochal, Queen Latifah. At this point in Dr. Cheryl’s career, she had become a Cosmetics Corporate Trainer and Color Line Developer for several cosmetic brands including the Jane Iredale Company, who she traveled for to represent the line, nationally and internationally. Her break into her now coveted career came as the Make-up Department Head for the first Queen Latifah Show, which was located in the Chelsea Studios in NYC. Ironically, this breakthrough came many years after a cosmetics firm she worked for as an Executive folded without notice. Dr. Cheryl has received two Emmy nominations in the make-up category for her work on the now defunct/iconic A.B.C. shows All My Children and One Life to Live. At American Broadcasting Corp., Dr. Cheryl worked on many acclaimed shows that also included, The View, Good Morning America, ABC World News Tonight with Peter Jennings as his personal artist and ABC World News Tonight with David Muir as his personal artist along with tons of televised specials featuring Barbara Walters, etc. for the network.
This “crown jewel” career accomplishment opened many doors and expanded her career to include Dr. Cheryl’s creative work on dozens of hit primetime shows, cable network shows, and blockbuster films. This legitimately established Dr. Cheryl Vernae+R to the coveted status of a true, “Celebrity Artist”.
Her work includes over a hundred and twenty plus television and film credits to date. Some of the highlights of her makeup work include some very special television and film projects to Dr. Chery, including in this list but not limited to: Ezra, Academy Award Winning film, Precious, I AM LEGEND, Men in Black I,II and III, all with mega star Will Smith. Exciting shows like Person of Interest, Power, Power Book II and III, Boardwalk Empire, Survival of the Thickest, The Best Man Series, and Indie film, Rob Peace.
Dr. Cheryl is respectfully known as a caring, innovative team player in the entertainment industry that she serves. She goes over and beyond to help others shine bright, focused on the task at hand. Most of her credits listed as make-up is because there is no category for running a valuable component to each TV show or feature film: Background Talent. If she isn’t make-up designing, Department Head or Make-up Key, she is most likely getting the background talent prepared with her team via camera ready instructions, as per script for each scene. Cheryl has stepped in, last minute on many films to get the project to completion, without hesitation or thought. The primary focus when she runs her own department is to make and keep the Director happy along with each Actor assigned to make character-appropriate. That is achievable with excellent communication skills and follow through with Showrunner, Producers, Directors, along with everyone else including PA’s assigned to assist her and her team. With that in mind, she and her team of chosen professionals are blessed to apply the expected-special effects looks. This is her primary focus on set, which is why so many have come to rely upon her for excellence of overall work and with an equally comparable work ethic. Dr. Cheryl loves what she does, all that goes with it, as seen on the finished product of her designed work.
Despite her tight and busy schedule, Dr. Cheryl still finds time to give back to the community and the world, at large. She travels both local and global to lecture, train and empower her exposed audience. This is done effectively through one of her many designed and created seminar events. One of her highly successful and sought after events is her “FORGIVENESS” workshops,”POWER” seminars and training symposiums. Each event hosted or facilitated by Dr. Cheryl has a common theme thread throughout: The Building of Self-Esteem and Self Awareness. She facilitated many seminars and conferences with this exact title. She also designed, created, and facilitated a very special program called projectZOOM3000 for the Department of Education in NYC and the tri-state area. This unique program is designed to uplift, empower, and build leadership skills for all children from primary school age to high school. This experience includes the special needs and at risk demographic. projectZOOM3000’s ultimate goal is to help foster the leadership skill, self-esteem/self-awareness in every child’s life that it touches. Additionally, she brainchilded the outstanding Leverage Legacy N2 Leadership conference event that premiered in 2018. This widely exciting event received high accolades and garnered Dr. Cheryl several citations and awards from both Governor Cuomo and Mayor DiBlasio. This successful and lauded conference was a highlight of empowerment in the City of New York. Leverage Legacy N2 Leadership Conference successfully pivoted to become a virtual experience during the COVID-19 2020 pandemic. This particular event created a safe environment for creatives and artists to be empowered by. Dr. Cheryl was conferred the Doctorate of Divinity in 2011 and also made a certified, licensed Chaplin. Dr. Cheryl Vernae+R has been honored with dozens of awards over the years. She is most proud of the honor and distinction of being awarded the 2023 Lifetime Presidential Achievement Award from sitting President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. Dr. Cheryl’s legacy includes the aspirational goal to help make the world a thriving place for our children and future generations to come.
